Not fancy...but nice

I bought this iHome product a few weeks ago. No one on the Internet has reviewed it yet so I thought I'd take a swing at it.

Pros:

1. The cost- It is probably one of the least expensive iPod speakers on the market. It cost me around $50.00 (I didn't buy it on Amazon). As a result it doesn't have many extras (see below) but, like I said it doesn't cost that much.

2. The looks- It's actually a pretty nice looking little unit almost retro. I like the big dial on it. It looks sharp wherever you put it. I've only found it in black (I have a white ipod) but that not a big deal for me.

3. Good sound- I'm not an audiophile and this isn't a huge stereo system. However, it puts out good sound for the one speaker. The radio (AM and FM) also sound good.

4. Charges the iPod well- Enough said. (It does say on the manual that it does not charge the 3rd generation iPods. However, my iPod is fairly new and if your iPod is that old maybe it's type for an upgrade anyway.)

5. Light and easy to carry- Again enough said.

Cons:

1. Not many extras- No remote control (if you have an iPod dock you can run the dock though the auxiliary jack and use the apple remote. However you need to unplug the auxiliary jack if you want to use any other feature on the unit.) As I said, it comes with an auxiliary jack and cord. I plugged in a little Memorex mp3 player and it sounds great. No video out jack. No clock or alarm. It does come with adapters for just about any iPod.

2. Antennas- The FM antenna is a wire that comes ouf the back of the ipod. There is a place to tuck it in if you don't need it extended. The AM antenna is plastic and plugs into the back of the unit. It's not that hard to remove it if you are going to carry it but it would better if the antennas on the unit were built in. The manufacturer needs to do a better job with this feature.

Overall- If you want something with a ton of features that will blast your music and make the walls shake, this is is not the unit for you. However, if you want something that's fairly inexpensive, looks nice and puts out decent sound this might be a unit to look at.
